Today, the PR have made the history in Malaysian politics when Penang state government appoint a non PR party member, the former Gerakan deputy secretary-general Datuk Lee Kah Choon as the director of InvestPenang and Penang Development Corporation (PDC), two of the state’s economic development agencies. Lee will be the first non PR member to be appointed into a PR state government agencies.
Also the first from Pakatan Rakyat is when Selangor government elects DAP’s Sungai Pinang assemblyman Teng Chang Khim and PKR’s Taman Medan assemblyman Haniza Talha as Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively for the Selangor state assembly. Teng poised to be first non-Malay Speaker with Haniza as his deputy.
Another first from Pakatan Rakyat will be the nomination of Tronoh assemblyman V. Sivakumar for the speaker’s post and two-term Jelapang assemblyman Hee Yit Foong as its candidate for deputy speaker.
If the appointment is successfull then this appointment will create a history by having the first Indian speaker in the country.
Will the Pakatan Rakyat create another history by having the first non-malay as the deputy Prime Minister when it rules the federal government later? Let's wait and see.
